Entertainment centers, they are big, bulky furnishings that most living rooms tend to showcase. However, most of them aren’t really all that attractive. Well, what if there was a way to nicely organize all those electronic items and things without using one? There is in fact and that way is TV consoles. One would be a fabulous investment.

That’s right, TV consoles are a great alternative to entertainment centers. They are the opposite of big and bulky while offering you all the same options that entertainment centers do. How is this possible? Well, it is because of their design as one will generally feature a spacious table top that is long, rectangular, but still very slender. On this table top, you can rest a flat screen plasma or LCD TV.

Okay, so you’re probably thinking, just having room for a TV is not enough, well, don’t worry because there are TV consoles available that have room for all those necessary items that go along with watching TV. For example, there are selections that have shelving, perfect for resting cable boxes, DVD players, and video game systems. There are other options that also come with cabinets and some that even feature drawers, giving you a great deal of storage space for additional items like magazines, DVD’s, books, video tapes, and anything else that you want to keep out of plain sight.

Not only a great choice for their practicality, TV consoles are also a nice way to add some character to your living room. This is possible because they have a decorative design that is the result of the materials they are crafted from and how they are styled through different detailing and finishes. For instance, you can purchase one that has a clean modern look to it crafted from pine that is then finished in a deep walnut stain. Or, you can get another one that has more of an antique vibe going on crafted from a blend of iron and glass, with an iron base that is filled with ornamental scrollwork supporting glass shelving and a glass table top. With the glass and metal options, one thing to keep in mind is to not set anything to heavy on top of it, so go with smaller screened TV’s because they’re not as strong as their all wood counterparts, yet are still a good selection to invest in.

A great way to check out all the TV consoles that you could possibly purchase for your home is to simply turn on that computer of yours and do some online shopping. It really is the best way to shop because you don’t have to step one foot outside of your home to do it. Nope, all you have to do is sit in front of your computer and browse all the online stores. When you do find something that you like, it typically will be at a reasonable price and it will shipped right to you.

So, if you hate entertainment centers, turn to TV consoles. They are a versatile furnishing that will be sure to please.

When looking into buying an entertainment center, whether it be a corner stand for your small TV or a huge center for your fantastic stereo, you have to ask yourself which type you would like to buy. In purchasing entertainment centers there are many types to choose from as there are entertainment centers which are cabinets, stands, wall mounts, armoires, and corner units. Entertainment centers can be small, such as stands and corner units or large ones, such as cabinets, armoires, or centers that take up the entire wall of a room. It all depends on what you want, what you want to spend, and how you want the entertainment system to look.

There are many entertainment systems which are nicely built wooden cabinets with drawers and shelves to house your entertainment system and accessories such as CD’s and DVD’s. There are open ones, much like large bookshelves, to place your entertainment items on. Some are armoires which open and close depending on if you are watching television or listening to your stereo. Entertainment centers with, hinged or slide doors are nice because they become a beautiful addition to your room.

Another important aspect is what you want your entertainment center to be built out of. Wood is what many are built out of as they are a nice addition to the decoration of your room, wood entertainment centers can be selected out of dark or light wood and anything in between. Entertainment centers constructed out of metal are just as nice depending on the d

The truly educated man is that rare individual who can separate reality from illusion. – Author Unknown

Reality TV Shows.

Are they reality or just entertainment? Are they good for society? Do reality shows enhance culture? Are they a waste of time?

Let’s clear up one thing first. Look up reality in the dictionary. It says, “Reality is the quality or state of being actual or true.”

Now think about the last time you had your picture taken or were video-taped. You knew the cameras were on and you acted just like you always do, didn’t you?

Right!

You didn’t scratch your backside or pick your nose. You smiled. You became someone other than your real self. I know, I know, sometimes you want to scratch more and pick more because you want to be gross or funny.

Bottom line is, you acted as you thought you were supposed to act. Do you still think any situation shown on a reality TV show is authentic? I vote NO!

Now look up entertainment and you’ll learn that, “Entertainment is something that amuses, pleases, or diverts.”

For most of us, this is why we watch a reality TV show. We get to see people acting like people. We laugh when they do stupid things. We cry with them when something bad happens. We shake our heads when they act like fools. Reality TV diverts our attention from our own lives and the things that happen around us. That can be either good or bad. Sometimes it’s okay to escape from the problems, fears, and pressures of life… for a while.

So in that sense, Reality TV is good for society as long as we remember it’s just a simulation of reality. A slice of life portrayed by people acting as they are expected to act. Sequences and scenes are selected by producers, directors, and editors to create the reality defined by the show’s premise. The actual reality is, it’s an entertainment show that is designed to deliver a certain audience to a certain advertiser. You get entertainment – they get potential customers.

Can a reality TV show enhance our culture?

I believe it can. If we watch the characters of the various reality shows closely we can learn more about ourselves and our society. We get to see the entire range of human interactions and emotions. Greed, lust, love, selfishness, courage, fear, and more, it’s all there. We can discover the things we value. We get to see people relating to people. We can learn what makes relationships stronger, and what tears people apart.

When we stay more than semi-conscious as we watch a reality TV or any TV show for that matter, we might learn something. Even if it’s only that people do dumb things. Watch with your awareness intact. Reality TV shows are only simulations of life. Just keep telling yourself, “It’s not real, it’s not real…”..

Now if you use a reality show or any TV show to escape from your life and it’s issues, then it is a waste of time. Stop living in and through someone’s contorted and distorted created reality. Your solutions are in you not that plastic and glass box.

So those are my thoughts on the questions asked earlier. Here’s one final suggestion I offer to you.

Turn off the TV. Get out there and experience the reality show called “Your Life.” You will be amazed at how interesting and entertaining it can be.
